The Stellar 14' Sit-on-Top (Puffin / S14S) is a recreational surfski that makes entry and exit a breeze by eliminating the need to squeeze in and out of a cockpit. The steering system on the boat is very comfortable and responsive, keeping you on track to where you want to go!

Unlike any other boat of this length, the Puffin surfski has the speed of a much longer boat, but beginners can feel comfortable paddling it.

The stern hatch allows for modest storage for day tripping and overnight adventures.

Its short length and light weight make the Puffin surfski ideal for those who want a high performance boat that is easy to carry, car-top, and store.

Let me start by saying that I am a 57 year old flat water paddler in decent shape for my age. I was looking for a light weight sit on top kayak for an exercise boat to get out on the water with a couple of days a week, not an easy task as most SOT kayaks are super wide and geared towards fishing and weigh upwards of 70 lbs . Enter the S14S G-2 , promoted by Stellar as a SOT , not a surf ski , it fits the bill perfectly . Short and light enough to easily car top and fit in your garage and a pleasure on the water. I won’t bother listing the specs as you can see them on the website , but I will say that stellar lists the advantage lay-up as weighing in at 34lbs . Owning a small 35lb sit inside touring kayak I believe that the stellar feels closer to 30lbs to me , I have know way to accurately weigh it , just my guess by having carried both . Ok, to the fun part . This kayak is a blast to paddle ! The stability is effortless ( keep in mind I’m an intermediate paddler) beginners should be able to get used to it quickly , in about 4 strokes you are up to speed and it maintains the speed easily, this is an efficient boat , it’s a SOT but don’t be fooled , it has Surfski DNA ! I have a 4.2 mile course that I paddle my 14 ft by 22 inch touring kayak on and my average times are between an hour 7 and and an hour 10 minutes to complete. The second time I paddled the S14S , the first time just being a get to know her paddle , I smoked the same distance in 57 minutes ! That was just at high cruise speed . After I completed the course and feeling amazed I hit a quick sprint to 6mph … love this boat ! Build quality seems .. well , stellar , the seat bucket area is as comfortable as it can be , I cut out a 10 mm foam pad to sit on after the first paddle , and it works well , need a little padding as I age 😆, the boat comes with a functional back band that gives just enough support without being overly intrusive. The foot pegs are easily adjustable on the fly (it’s not a traditional Surfski foot board ) and comfortable to use as is the rudder. It has a large stern hatch for storing your needs , though I won’t use it , save this boat for performance, haul stuff in something else ! Ok , time to wrap it up already ! Awesome boat highly recommend it, 4.5 out of 5 stars ( only because nothing is perfect ) . So there you have it , you know you want one ! Get ahold of Bob and schedule a test paddle , friendly excellent service . Thank you Bob ; Oceanflight.com
